Adapting on the Fly – Public Speaking in a Virtual World
While taking a public speaking class at Old Dominion University, I had to navigate an unexpected twist, which was that the class was fully online. Instead of standing in front of a classroom, I gave my speeches live over Zoom to a mix of friends and classmates, all while sitting at my desk or pacing around my room. It wasn’t the traditional setup, but it gave me a chance to show one of my strengths: adaptability. No podium, no crowd, just a webcam and a willingness to roll with the punches.
